Anyhow, lately I have been reading from Piers Anthony's Castle Roogna, the third novel of the author's longest series, Xanth!
| Love the paperback cover art? I sure do :D (GO FANTASY ARTISTS, GO!!!) |
My favorite character thus far: Jumper! (A minuscule spider that became giganticus once entering the castle's tapestry with Dor. However purposeful that sounds, the spider did not intend this to happen! He was just jumping to catch a juicy fly that was just where Dor, the main character, was going...!)
One of the fun parts of this series is the puntastically fantastic punny puns (: which are everywhere in the world of Xanth from figurative meanings in conversations to literal elements in the world itself:
- Apple cones instead of simple pine cones,
- Blue bottle flies that look like transparent blue bottles made of glass,
- And... well, let's not forget the other delightful trees and bushes that provide/grow bread,
- Plants that create milk,
- And... I think you get the gist! xD).
This world is great and the writing makes for great adventures. I am currently crossing the Gap with Millie (the-soon-to-be-ghost), Dor (the Magician level 11 year old boy who is currently in a grown man's body), and Jumper (who was in danger of being taken by some ravenous river snakes/monsters).
