New look, new times

I've just updated the color scheme and changed a couple of things.

I hope to be writing more often now than before...

Anyway, new things promote even more newer things!

My first ever finished novel is currently out and about on Amazon! I'm kind of excited and nervous about that.

I'm also reading whenever I can! It's a bit difficult these days because I have more reading material that's more academically inclined (like InDesign Type, Thinking With Type, and Working With Type... hehehe... fun stuff!).

Anyway, I'll see if I can post new doodles here every now and then and post up the list of books that I've finished reading, too :D

So, good morning, good evening, and goodnight!

Thank ye,

Meli♥

Meli, full of thoughts

Today, the fourth of August of the year 2016, I came to a firm realization.

I am not a figment of my own imagination. I am not a viewer of the repressed and oppressed. I am not a third person narrator. I am not invisible. I am not an observer.

In some way... I have always found myself stepping back from any situation I've ever been faced with, and in so many cases... I have neglected myself because of it. Sometimes, I guess that it was due to the fear of becoming something I wasn't... or the fear of becoming someone I am.

It's strange to look back on the events today that allowed me to reflect on my existence so far.

I have weight and I occupy space in this three-dimensional world. I exist on this plane of reality. People see me and rely on me. I also have needs.

It's been very easy to not see these things when I barely give myself credit, but...

I'm here.

I might not get as much recognition as the next person who has created a cure for some kind of sickness or the next person who springs up to become the next president of the United States... I might not be remembered by thousands of people for appearing in several movies and TV shows.

But... in someway, I will be spotted out of a crowd when trying to meet a friend. I might get hugged really tight when someone I love hasn't seen me in a very long time. I might be the one to make them laugh and surprise myself at how funny I am.

And that's quite a feeling.

Quite a feeling I'm not used to.

What I Read in 2015, and My Current Reads Thus Far

Around the time I first started writing this little itty bitty post, I had read up to four books, an allotment which belong to The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare, which I am not too excited about (note: never, under any circumstances, should you ever follow the crowd that far; just don't do it unless you find joy in it ... by yourself).

In any case, that series is totally for new readers, but if your heart's in it, go right ahead and read it (belong to the inner sanctum of the fandom). I do want to read the Infernal Devices, but... omgies, why is it always about how gorgeous the covers are! (I knew not of their Mortal Instruments affiliation, and this is what I get for loving the covers so much ;o; regret and hesitant love from afar, I guess.)

Moving on!

Stardust and Other Types of Glamour

As it has come to pass, I haven't been blogging as much as I should. Alas, life has had me tied up in knots, but that doesn't mean that I haven't been reading!

Ever since my latest add from 2013, I have read just a bit more than my 2012 mark (more than 30 books). considering how I read when I love my non-reading leisure time as much as anyone... I guess it could've been better?

2013 books since The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer:

Dawsey and Juliet's Wedding, my very own epilogue

So, I finished reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The ending was wonderful! But I felt that there needed to be an epilogue. This doth not beat the great writing of the book. It is fictitious and fanmade. In fact, Lily McGreggor is an odd character I've just managed to conjure for the sake of having a third party perspective of the wedding, which was mentioned at the end.

So, um, enjoy my horrible writing,

How long can one go without comments?

It both confuses me and amazes me that I can go so long thinking that I wrote - correction created - this blog just for the sake of writing... not for the sake of comments. It concerns me a great deal to think that anywhere where I have access to posting things, no matter if my name is in them or not, I am so overly frustrating my mind over,

"Oh my goodness, have I gotten comments yet?"
"Has anyone reblogged from me?"
"Has anyone liked my posts?"

Books, Books, Tons of Books!

There is one thing that I love about the world and that is...

BOOKS

Books are the most wonderful asset human beings have created as part of the info-machine of non-ignorance. The first to be able to read were most likely... I don't think I know exactly? Probably Mesopotamian people or Egyptians or the ancient Chinese peoples of or around the first dynasty (perhaps even before then). And Greek and Arabian philosophers. Maybe even Meso-American folk.

Phoenicians?

Lee Pace shrugging as he eats, because Lee Pace.
As life has it... yeah.

Language has been around for a long time. One of the greatest human feats. Well at least for homo sapiens. I am sure that every other species has its own language, which we are not able to translate... yet xD

Anyway, I have been editing my uber awesome novel and I can't seem to reason why I'm not happy with its beginning. Is it because of super high expectations or because this novel could end up being good, but could have been better? I'm probably never going to know. Well, not until I finish writing it.

*checks*

Whoa. I'm 449 pages in! o_o

Yep, I'm definitely going to have to finish it.

Anyway, onto the book world.

You know something that's uber intriguing about books? Besides their living spaces, because, let's face it, libraries are the bomb (minus explosion and people ensuing to run amok like headless chickens...).

The writer. The book. The agent(s). The publisher(s). The printing press(es). The book sellers. The book buyers... and the readers.

That's what's uber intriguing. How that line of events comes to pass. It's freaking amazing.

But it's not that bad at all. Not that bad at all.

I think they're books that have become public domain.
